INTRO

How can you use an Air Fryer with the Keto Diet? There are many good ways to use an Air Fryer on the keto diet, but first if you’re not aware, the ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet designed to help you lose weight. The diet is also commonly recommended for people who are prone to diabetes and heart disease.
One of the best ways to start your keto journey is by getting rid of unhealthy snacks and cooking your own food at home. This means eating real, whole foods like meat, fish and green vegetables. You can use an air fryer to cook meat in a healthier way. Air frying is a great alternative to frying foods in oil (which can be bad for your health).
Air fryers use hot air with little or no oil to cook food, making them ideal for the keto diet!
When it comes to keto, it can be easy to think of a meat for the dish, but sides and appetizers can get complicated. Sure, you could go the celery and blue cheese route (not hating!), but if you’re looking for something beyond that, the air fryer offers several impressive options. It’s true — several of favorite keto recipes rely on an air fryer. Here’s why we like it so much:
• It makes crispy food with less oil than traditional frying.
• It can be used to quickly cook almost any meat.
• It can dehydrate fruit and make vegetable chips.
• It can make other crunchy snacks like jicama fries and asparagus.

TEN KETO AIR FRYER FOODS

So what are some foods that you can cook in your air fryer?
You can make almost anything with an air fryer, but if you’re looking to get started, these are some of the best keto ideas:

Air Fryer Bacon

Love bacon but hate getting it all over your stovetop. The air fryer provides a closed system for cooking baking keeping all that grease inside. Check out our recipe here.

Air Fryer ‘Boiled” Eggs

Hard boiled eggs have long been a go to food for the keto diet on the go. Now with an air fryer you can just load your eggs into the fryer, set it and forget it. Instructions at the bottom of the article. ‘Boiled’ Eggs
Low Carb Onion Rings with Parmesan Cheese
These onion rings are crispy on the outside and tender inside. They’re also very flavorful thanks to the parmesan cheese coating. If you want to take your low carb onion rings a step further, try dipping them in mayonnaise or garlic butter. They make an excellent appetizer or side dish for any keto-friendly meal!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings

This one is a no-brainer — chicken wings are a keto favorite. You can toss them in any number of sugar free sauces like Mango Habanero or this Thai Chili. Check out our recipe here.

Air Fryer Chicken Breasts or Thighs

If you’re not careful, chicken breasts can dry out in the air fryer. To avoid that problem, this recipe uses something called “the pound method”: Before cooking, pound the chicken breasts flat so they’ll cook more evenly. You can also use boneless chicken thighs for this recipe if you prefer dark meat to white meat.

Air Fryer Salmon

The best part about cooking salmon in the air fryer is that it takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish! You can throw together any flavor that you would like and it will taste delicious.

Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks

If you love cabbage, then cabbage steaks will be the perfect side dish for you! The air fryer gives them a crunchy texture and cooks them to perfection. You can serve these steaks alone or with other vegetables.
You can use the same method but with less time to give a quarter head of lettuce a little ‘grilling’ for a nice grilled wedge salad.

Chicken Parmesan Meatballs

Chicken Parmesan meatballs are great to make if you need a quick meal that is full of flavor. It only takes 20 minutes to make this recipe in your air fryer! Chicken Parmesan Meatballs

Fries and Chips

We all love fries, but since potatoes aren’t allowed on Keto we have to get creative. You can still get your fix with fresh cut green beans, zucchini, jicama or even radishes!
Zucchini chips are so easy to make and also very addicting! If you are craving something salty this is a perfect snack to make in your air fryer. Zucchini Chips

Roasty, Toasty Veggies

Sick of bland boiled broccoli and cauliflower? Air fryers are a great way to quickly roast veggies like crisp Brussel sprouts and asparagus. These dishes will make you wish you’d discovered air frying sooner.

KETO AIR FRYER RECIPES

Air Fryer ‘Boiled” Eggs

The problem is that boiling eggs on the stovetop can be a pain. The water boils over, the eggs fall apart, or the shells just don’t want to peel off (no matter how many tricks you try).

Recipe

Using the wire rack or simply the basket if you don’t have one, place the desired number of eggs into the air fryer leaving some spacing.

Set the temperature to 250 (121 C) for 16 minutes. Once the time is up, remove the eggs from the air fryer and place them in ice water to stop the cooking. You now have a bowl of keto-friendly snacks or breakfasts on the go.

Disclaimer: Not all air fryers are the same. You can start with small batches of eggs and if they don’t come out to your liking just adjust the time or temperature accordingly.
