How to Make Bacon in an Air Fryer
Step 1:
Lay bacon flat in the cooking basket of your air fryer. Place the bacon in a single layer; it is alright if the edges touch or overlap. A 5.8-quart air fryer can handle about 5 slices of bacon; smaller air fryers will cook less.
Step 2:
Place the fryer basket securely in the air fryer.
Step 3:
Set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 10 minutes. If cooking less than 6 strips of bacon, your cook time may need to be reduced.
Step 4:
Check bacon to see if it has reached your desired level of crispiness. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes as needed.
Tip: If the grease from the bacon causes your air fryer to smoke, place a small amount of water in the drip tray prior to cooking. In many air fryer models, this eliminates smoking.
Step 5:
Remove bacon and drain the drip tray into a heat-resistant container. Place more bacon in the fry basket and cook if desired.
Did You Know?
In some parts of the world, bacon is a bit different than in the United States. Called “streaky bacon” in some parts of the world, American bacon is made from side cuts of the pig. “Back bacon” from Britain and Ireland is made from the loin and belly, and uses the same cuts as pork chops. It is much leaner than American bacon. Similarly, in Australia, bacon cuts of just the loin are popular, or may include a medallion of loin in addition to the streaky, fatty side cut.
No matter where in the world you are, you’ll likely agree that bacon makes every recipe better. Rest assured that your air fryer bacon – streaky, back, or any other type – will be crisp and delicious in no time flat.
