Best Air Fryer Accessories

What’s not to love about gadgetry? Air fryers attract people who are invested in their cooking and like to try new things. There is a world of accessories for air fryers, most compatible with 3.7-5.4 models.

It’s prudent to begin your air fryer journey with stock accessories, with maybe an extra pot or pan, and work from there. When you have a new appliance, it’s best to start with the basics, as it helps you learn to use your machine.

Next, assess your wants, needs, and desires. Do you need to make food in batches to feed your family? Would you like to do some baking? Maybe grill kebabs, or make a stir fry?

You can buy sets, personalize your purchases by buying them separately, and even shop outside the gear made especially for air fryers. This is great if you want pans made of a different material than the standard non stick, such as copper, glass or even cast iron.

You can buy conventional cookware for air fryers, and we’ll take a look at that. The only caveat, which we will mention again later, is that most air fryers accept 7 inch pots, pans, etc. Standard cake pans, for example, are 8 inches. One also has to keep handles in mind.

We sourced these accessories from Amazon, although they can be found at other vendors and in brick and mortar stores as well.

Here’s a look at:

Must-Have Air Fryer Accessories

  • Accessory kits
  • Cooking Racks
  • Baking Pans
  • Bake ware sets
  • Oil misters
  • Parchment liner
  • Helpful tools
  • Recipe Books

Accessory Kits: It might suit your purposes to order a set, which is an economical way to expand your air fryer arsenal. A set we liked has five pieces: a cake pan which can be used for pies or pizzas, a large pot, a multi-purpose rack with skewers, a general rack, and a silicone mat, which is excellent for lining baking sheets to aid clean up.

They are all non stick and dishwasher safe, and the dimensions (7 inches) fit most air fryers.
There are many sets available. A good place to start is with this kit at Amazon:

At around $40 dollars, sets can take care of many of your needs at once.

Cooking Racks:

Love skewers and kebabs? Want more space to grill dinner? We love these skewer racks: they can grill skewers while burgers, steaks, or fish cook below, at the same time, and they look cool, too. These sets are dishwasher safe and non stick.

Philips HD9904/00 Double Layer Rack, and the Silver Philips HD9905/00 Airfryer Double Layer Rack with Skewers for Avance, X-Large, both available at

A rack for eggs? Yes, you can make hard or soft boiled eggs in an air fryer. Some people put them in a pot, or simply on a pan; why not get a neat rack just for this? See for some tips on air frying eggs.. If this is something that sounds useful to you, we like the: K-Steel Electric Pressure Cooker Steam Rack Cooking Ware Steaming Rack Stand,2Pcs/Set,Egg Cooker. Amazon carries these. Letting your eggs roll around freely is asking for trouble.

It’s food grade stainless steel, and designed for the air fryer Instant Pot, 6 quarts and above. You can cook 14 eggs in it.

Baking Pans

If you love to bake, here are some suggestions for nifty pans that will fit in a large air fryer. Note that they are not all non stick, so if you worry about non stick surfaces and high heat, these might be for you. Lining with parchment paper is recommended.

When shopping for pans, remember that the rule of thumb is 7 inches, max, which doesn’t count handles.

Fat Daddio’s Anodized Aluminum Round Cake Pan, 7Inches by 3 Inches

Constructed without seams, these pans are not chemically coated (i.e., they are not non stick, so you’ll want some parchment paper), and are available in different depths.

Fat Daddio’s Anodized Aluminum Round Cheesecake Pan, 7 Inches by 3 Inches
Designed for cheesecakes, this is a spring form pan, so the bottom pops out for serving. The aluminum is anodized, so it won’t react to acidic foods, and it won’t leach aluminum into your food, either.

These pans have lifetime warranties.

If you are fond of cast iron, you’re not alone. Cast iron is a great material for cooks, even though it comes with its own set of seasoning rules and do’s and don’ts.

Buying new cast iron for an air fryer can be challenging, not because of the pan size, but because you must avoid the long handles. We like the Utopia Kitchen enameled cast iron dutch oven with lid 3.2 quart, which is 23 cm in diameter. Interestingly, heritage cast iron is much easier to fit. Pots and pans were smaller a few generations ago.

For the ambitious baker, the Wilton Angel Food Cake Pan, at 7”x5”, is perfect. Imagine how much easier Angel food cake will be in an air fryer.

The Copper Chef Copper Crisper is not only copper, everyone’s favorite metal for cooking, but it is a sheet pan with a rack, convenient for cooling baked goods or toasting pastries.

Bakeware sets: has a nice tutorial on baking cakes in an air fryer, working with the sizes of the pans, and some recipes.

For the dedicated baker, bake ware sets can be very handy, and do not have to be dedicated to air fryers. We haven’t seen a complete set that is for air fryers alone yet. Air fryer bake ware tends to be square, which maximizes space, but may not suit all of your recipes.

Cooks love glassware. The thing to keep in mind if you are going for glassware is the dimensions, as a standard rectangular Pyrex casserole pan is 9”x12”. The Pyrex Grab 6 piece glass bake ware and storage set is a good buy and very multi purpose.

The Wilton 3 piece mini loaf pan set is a neat, affordable little set for banana bread, pound cakes, bread, and even meatloaf if you like yours sculpted.

The Wilton 6 cup Jumbo Muffin Pan, pack of 2, is a bargain at There are a thousand uses for a muffin pan, and when you need one, there’s no substitute.

Oil misters:

You know about misting your air fried food with oil, and have your favorite oil at hand, but what about a high quality oil mister that delivers a nice even spray?

Making your own sprays rather than buying aerosol bottles is healthier for you, the environment, and more personal. Look for a BHP, Latex, and DEHP free plastic model. It’s a better material than glass, which can shatter.

A good spray bottle will dispense oil evenly, is easily washable and comes with a funnel. Check out the Evo Kitchen and Grill Olive Oil and Cooking Oil Trigger Sprayer Bottle, Refillable, Non-Aerosol, 18-Ounce Capacity at Amazon.

Parchment paper is helpful in any kitchen for tasks like lining baking pans for cakes or just cleaning reasons, and even for making Air Fryer Bacon. Check out for a neat tutorial on this! You can buy parchment paper at your local grocery store, or try something a bit fancier, such as Joyce Chen 26-0060 50 Count Steaming Papers (2) by Joyce Chen, available at Amazon.

Helpful Tools:

You may want some cool tools that you don’t already have to make your air frying easier and more accurate.

  • Meat thermometer: these range widely in price, but even an inexpensive one is a kitchen must. Check out the Gdealer meat thermometer talking instant read, under $10.
  • Fish Spat: These indispensable spatulas are almost a professional secret. Once you have one, you’ll never want to use another spatula. The New Star Foodservice 43068 Wood Handled Fish Spatula, at Amazon, is a steal at $5.95.
  • Silicone spatula set: another must have for an equipped kitchen. Avoid plastic ones, as they can melt. TheKum & Kum silicone spatula set of 3 is really popular. The best spatulas have removable heads for easy cleaning.
  • Colander: For draining veggies or other items you cook in a pot of water. Also good for washing produce. TheUS steel 3qt 9 inch microperforated colander, at Amazon, will serve your purposes. Your colander should be pretty large. It doesn’t need to fit into your air fryer.
  • Foil: It goes without saying that foil is very handy in any kitchen, and there are plenty of applications for it in air frying, from wrapping baked potatoes to lining pans. It’s worth it to buy good quality foil. Cheap foil rips very easily.
  • Tongs: Indispensable for moving food around, turning food, removing steaks and so forth. Smaller, shorter tongs are better for air fryers. The POPCO set of 3heavy duty stainless steel silicon tips are under $10. Smaller, shorter tongs are better in general, unless you are grilling outdoors. The big ones can be very awkward.
  • Brushes: For applying oil, bbq sauce, marinades and more: Look for brushes that are silicone, for easy cleaning and heat resistance. Do buy more than one, in case you need to use a brush both on the raw food and the finished product. Be careful to keep brushes very clean when not in use. The Haicheng Basting Brush and Pastry Brush, set of 2, is a good choice.

Air Fryer Baking

Although air fryers are best known for cooking crisp, lower-fat versions of fried foods, they really are excellent with desserts. Cakes, cookies, and even pies bake wonderfully within the hot circulating air of these appliances. Baking treats with the kids or indulging in a single-serving cake when you need some sugar therapy can all be accomplished with an air fryer.

How to Bake with an Air Fryer

Most recipes for cookies and cakes translate directly to air frying. You’ll use the temperatures and baking times specified in regular oven recipes, including those on baking mix boxes. Be sure to preheat your machine.

You won’t need to make any complicated adjustments, but, because you might be using small pans in an air fryer, you might need to shorten baking times by a few minutes. Check early to see if your goodies are done to avoid the unhappiness of over baking.

Selecting Pans

Because air fryer drawers are obviously smaller than an oven, you’ll need to find pans that fit it. Baking pan accessories from the manufacturer of your particular air fryer might even be available. You’ll also find plenty of small pans on the market that will satisfy your purposes, like these:

Square Aluminum Baking Pan – At 7 x 7 x 2 inches, this pan from Fat Daddio is free of any coatings or welds. The aluminum heats up and cools down rapidly, so the cake batter will start baking right away and the pan will cool quickly after removal from the air fryer.

Square Stoneware Baking Dish – This small pan from Le Creuset only measures 5 x 5 x 3 inches and represents a great choice for baking in an air fryer. The high-fired stoneware with enamel glaze handles the oven, freezer, and microwave. Stoneware is durable and offers superior results with pastries if you want to bake a pie in an air fryer.

Aluminum Foil Pans – This 50-pack will keep you baking for months, and each pan only measures 5.6 x 4.5 x 1.7 inches. They’re affordable and the right choice if you want to give away baked goods.

Baking Cakes in Air Fryers

Follow the cake recipe directions for mixing ingredients, grease your pans, and pour in the batter. Large cake recipes will need to be divided into two baking sessions as you fill one pan, bake, and then fill and bake the second pan. Most cakes bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or approximately 180 Celsius.

Test for doneness with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean, then the cake is done. Let it cool a few minutes in the pan before removing it to a cooling rack.

Single-Serving Cakes

An air fryer might just be the perfect choice for baking small single-serving cakes. These mini recipes produce a small amount of batter for creating a personal sweet treat.

If your air fryer is tall enough, it might hold a coffee mug or mason jar, which single-serving cakes are usually baked in. Otherwise, find some small baking dishes called ramekins. They’re shorter and able to fit many air fryers.

Baking Cookies in an Air Fryer

When your inner Cookie Monster needs cookies, your air fryer will bake up a small batch in minutes. Like cakes, any cookie recipe adapts to air frying with the same temperature settings. Remember to preheat.

After preparing your favorite cookie dough recipe, you’ll place spoonfuls or shaped balls of dough into your baking pan. You also have the option of simply setting the dough pieces on the air fryer basket lined with foil.

At first, you might have to experiment a bit to find the right baking time that makes the cookies as crisp or soft as you like them. For example, one chocolate chip cookie air fryer recipe recommends that the temperature be reduced during the last two minutes. This approach ensures a soft cookie that is baked all of the way through.

Advantage of Air Frying Cookies

You’ll have a small batch of warm and fresh cookies almost on demand. Most cookie doughs keep in the refrigerator for a few days, which means you can air fry two to four cookies whenever you want some.

Disadvantage of Air Frying Cookies

If you need to prepare dozens of cookies for an event, baking many small batches in an air fryer will take a long time. However, if you don’t have an oven, it’s at least possible to bake cookies.

Baking with an Air Fryer

With a baking pan that fits your air fryer, you’re ready to bake many kinds of cakes and cookies. No special modifications to recipes are necessary.
